2022 was a big year for SIMNA!
This year saw the return of in person events. A total of 11 SIMNA events took place across the country and online. Topics covered included how the private sector is measuring social impact, understanding and measuring the impact of the national community hubs program and measuring the impact of social enterprise. We also added some social events into the mix: a trivia night in Melbourne and end of year sundowners in Perth.
SIMNA Board Members Kathy, Simon and Sarah continued to represent SIMNA on the Department of Social Services (DSS) Outcomes Measurement Initiative (OMI) working groups in early 2022.
We were excited to launch our new Senior Impact Leaders Roundtable in March. The aim of the Roundtable is to create a safe space for senior social impact leaders to share and to connect while exploring some of the challenges and opportunities they are facing in their roles. It is open to SIMNA members who hold the most senior social impact role in their for-purpose organisation and the group now meets monthly online.
We closed the year by celebrating the fantastic work being done across the country in social impact measurement via the SIMNA Awards. We received a record number of unique entries this year. The winners and runners up were announced at a virtual ceremony at the beginning of December, which also included a lively panel discussion.
None of this would have been possible without our amazing volunteers – our Organising Committee Members in Sydney, Western Australia, Western Sydney and Victoria, our Awards Judges, our Board Members and the Senior Impact Leaders Roundtable Enablers. A huge thank you to you all! An equally huge thank you to our partners – Urbis, SVA Consulting and Our Community – as well as our Awards Platinum Sponsor the Department of Social Services, Australian Government for their support throughout the year.
We’re looking forward to an even bigger and better 2023.
