Wanted: Leading Funders in Social Impact Measurement!

September 13, 2021 By Administrator

Calling all grant-makers, philanthropists, impact investors and funders that are enabling organisations and initiatives to measure their social impact!

In the current climate, the dialogue around social impact, social change and its measurement is rapidly gaining momentum.

SIMNA is excited to accelerate this momentum through the nationally recognised 2021 SIMNA Awards! Now in their 7th year, the SIMNA Awards shine a light on the many individuals and organisations leading the way in Australian social impact measurement.

This particular SIMNA Award is the successor to last year’s ‘Effective Investment in Social Impact Measurement’ category award. We have renamed this award the Leading Funder in Social Impact Measurement in consultation with award sponsor Our Community.

About this Award

Funders and investors hold great power. They decide who gets access to precious grant and investment funds, and – importantly – what hoops they need to jump through to get it.

This SIMNA Awards category rewards organisations or initiatives that have:

  • Funded social impact measurement
  • Measured the social impact of their funding
  • Engaged in other activities that leverage their power to further the field of social impact measurement

Typical applicants for this award would include those overseeing local, state or federal
government grants and other funding programs, philanthropic foundations and trusts, businesses with a social investment program, social impact investors, social enterprises, social entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organisations.

Some examples of award-worthy programs and activities include:

  • Funders and investors who are making efforts to understand more about their impact by measuring and managing the social impact of their grant programs, investment portfolios, donations or partnerships.
  • Funders and investors who are helping other organisations measure and manage their social impact by funding capacity building in social impact measurement or mandating that a proportion of funding should be spent on measuring impact.
  • Funders and investors who are demonstrating how the measurement and management of ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives has led to positive impact or better funding decisions.
  • Funders and investors that are making efforts to tangibly learn from and/or showcase the results of their social impact measurement activities.

If this sounds like your organisation, please enter! The deadline for entries is Friday, 22 October 2021.

Notes:

SIMNA is a growing network of members. We believe that understanding and measuring social impact is critical to achieving the best possible outcomes for all Australians, our communities and our environment. Not just in the not-for-profit sector but across the delivery of products and services by all types of organisations, including for profit organisations and government agencies.
