“Using Social Impact Measurement in Operational Decision Making” was an event held in Perth on 9 April 2019. This event was well attended, with some 18 people in the room. Approximately half were members of SIMNA. Speaking at this lively panel event were:
1. Karen Barker, General Manager Service Development and Compliance, Anglicare WA
2. Andrew Rigg, Youth Services Manager, YMCA WA
3. Professor Paul Flatau, Director, Centre for Social Impact, UWA
4. Dr Katrina Stratton, Manager Research and Evaluation, Wanslea.
The panel addressed some leading questions and then opened the discussion up to the group. There was time for networking (and refreshments!) before and after the discussion.
A key theme to emerge was the challenge of changing decision-making systems and processes to include social impact measurement, especially in small organisations.
A majority of attendees found this event to be a helpful and encouraging experience, with 85% learning something useful about social impact measurement and 62% increasing their professional network.
Our next event in Perth will be in July, as part of the Social Impact Festival. See you there!
