In December, CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) and impact measurement specialists Think Impact won the 2020 SIMNA Award for Collaboration in Social Impact Measurement for their work on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project.

The project to date has entailed three simultaneous Social Return on Investment (SROI) reports, involving over 250 stakeholders as part of CYP D&C’s work on the $11bn Melbourne Metro Tunnel infrastructure project.

Understanding the social value created

This project is providing an important opportunity to understand both the social and economic value that can be created through major infrastructure investments.

Forecast SROI studies have been completed on (a) the employment opportunities provided for people facing barriers to employment (b) the employment opportunities provided for trainees and cadets and (c) the social procurement of social enterprises and Aboriginal businesses.
