How to ‘use’ rather than ‘do’ Social Return on Investment (SROI)

May 16, 2014 By Administrator

Join us for a SIMNA NSW Chapter workshop on Tuesday 3 June, 7.30am – 9.30am. This event is generously hosted by Hub Sydney, 101 William Street, Darlinghurst, NSW 2010.

To register click here.

The workshop will be delivered by Ben McAlpine, a Consultant at Social Ventures Australia. Ben has worked with a range of commercial, public and not-for-profit clients, assisting them with their strategy and impact measurement.

In this workshop we will learn about the real power of Social Return on Investment (SROI) – how you use it. While an SROI ratio is an important outcome of performing the analysis, it is not the end goal. Beyond using the analysis to market and fundraise, SROI can help organisations to:

– Better understand the outcomes and impact of their programs
– Learn what needs to change (and what not to change)
– Refine the organisational strategy
– Design and implement an ongoing measurement and evaluation framework

To demonstrate how SROI can be ‘used’, we will explore a case study, focusing on what the organisation learned and what they are now doing differently.

We will also hear from a representative from Souths Cares. Souths Cares is an independent not-for-profit public benevolent institution, established to support the local community and address social need across the South Sydney region. Souths Cares has recently completed its first SROI.
