Dr Paul Thambar

Dr Paul Thambar is a senior academic researcher and educator at the Monash Business School with an interest in performance measurement in ‘alternate organisations’ like charities, cooperatives and mutuals. In these organisations, measuring performance in accounting numbers alone is not useful, particularly to understand the impact of programs and activities on end users, customers and beneficiaries. Paul has worked on long term research programs with these alternate organisations to develop measurement frameworks to help measure value and impact. Prior to academia, Paul spent several years in senior accounting roles in banking, insurance and aged care and in strategy consulting.
Paul has joined the Sydney Organising Committee of SIMNA to engage and contribute to a community of practitioners working in a range of organisations where value and impact measurement is challenging but interesting. While contributing to the community, Paul is also interested in learning from community members about these challenges in impact measurement and their different approaches.
