Changing Lives – SIMNA Awards 2016

November 11, 2015 By Administrator

When 89% of the homeless men in a housing program are still in secure housing two years later and the program saves the government hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, everyone takes notice! This is just one of the amazing stories from organisations around the country measuring how their programs are changing people’s lives.

Mission Australia took out a Social Impact Measurement Network of Australia (SIMNA) award in 2014 for the evaluation of their MISHA housing program that supports homeless men. Nominations are now open for the next Social Impact Measurement Awards which will be announced in April 2016.

The awards are organised by SIMNA, Australia’s leading industry and practitioner network for social impact measurement.

Simon Faivel, Chair of SIMNA, said there are many inspiring stories of great programs and services which aim to create a more equitable society and the 2016 awards will again highlight the significant outcomes they produce.

“SIMNA’s vision is to contribute to improved social outcomes for Australian people and communities, so we really want to hear from as many organisations as possible through this awards program,” Mr Faivel said.

“Recognising excellence through the SIMNA Awards is an important way of contributing to the development and improvement of social impact measurement in Australia.”

SIMNA invites applications across four award categories:

  • Excellence in Social Impact Measurement
  • Best New Idea in Social Impact Measurement
  • Excellence in Collaboration In Social Impact Measurement
  • Best Newcomer to Social Impact Measurement

The SIMNA Awards are in their second year. Previous winners include MLC Community Foundation, YMCA Victoria, Souths Cares, Mission Australia and The Smith Family.

Applications for the SIMNA Awards are open from 5 November 2015 to 3 February 2016. Application forms can be found here.
