Talia has over 10 years’ experience working to enhance the wellbeing and inclusion of refugee communities through policy, research and practice. She is a strong advocate for cross-sectoral collaboration and embedding community development principles in policy and program design.
Talia has held a range of positions within the community sector, academia and government. She currently works as a Senior Policy Officer for the NSW Government, supporting the NSW Coordinator-General for Refugee Resettlement, Professor Peter Shergold, to lead humanitarian settlement policy and program coordination in NSW.
In 2018, Talia was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to travel to Canada, USA and Europe to research strategies to support the secondary migration of refugees to regional and rural towns. She is a qualified social worker and holds a Master of Social Work, Master of Development Studies (Refugees and Displacement) and Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies).
