Peter has over 30 years experience in IT and the promotion of community development via the mutual and co-operative enterprise forms. He was a key participant of the Maleny (Qld) co-operative resurgence during the 1980 and 90’s with involvement in many organisations and social enterprises. He served for 17 years as a director of the Maleny Credit Union (MCU) board with 9 years as chair. As well as part of the local team building and maintaining the banking system, Peter was a key driver of the MCU integrated reporting during 1999 to 2005 using a social accounting and audit framework based on the publications of SAN UK.
Peter also has a passion for grassroots microfinance, having worked as both a volunteer and consultant in many credit union and microfinance projects around the Pacific including the post conflict Bougainville Microfinance Project.
Since 2011 Peter has been developing and delivering the Individual Finance program within Foresters Community Finance that provides best practice options and micro credit loans to the financial excluded. Foresters undertook a Social Return on Investment Forecast in 2012 to quantify and communicate to stakeholders the social outcomes generated when people use the Foresters services.
